The soldiers arrived to the southwest of Antioquia with humanitarian aid for those hit by this tragedy.
On the night of the last June 25, the municipality of Venecia was hit by a devastating landslide that swept away several houses, turning a quiet night into a torment full of anguish and desolation.
The community, shocked and in urgent need of support, received the solidarity and immediate help of Colombian National Army, which with the support of the Food Bank and the Retail Central of the city of Medell铆n made a collection to bring a little hope to those who lost everything.
This emergency was triggered around 9:30 at night, since a landslide generated by heavy rains obstructed the La Tigra stream. The inclemency of the downpour destabilized the land of the green mountains that surround this municipality, which are now only a remnant of what used to be wildlife zone. The torrent of mud and debris swept away everything in its way.
Due to this emergency, the men of comprehensive operation in the same way complemented the support provided to all those who were hit; thus, with the associates of unified operation collected non-perishable products, more than 60 baskets of food and clothing, to embark to Venecia during the last days to accompany people in this very difficult moment.
The intervention of Colombian National Army, through the Infantry Battalion No.11 Cacique Nutibara, the Battalion of Engineers of Assistance and Prevention of Disasters No.81, the Faith in Colombia program and the Comprehensive operation and Development Support Battalion No. 7, together with strategic allies, has been crucial in providing relief to the people of Venecia, and through these operations to bring a little hope in the midst of the crisis.
