In the Santa María village in Puerto Asís, Putumayo, two rustic structures built with wood and plastic were found by troops, their main use was the production of potassium permanganate, a substance used in the production of cocaine hydrochloride; this result was obtained thanks to the joint works conducted by the Colombian Aerospace Force, Colombian National Army and the Colombian Navy in the southeast of the country.
After an efficient analysis of military intelligence it was possible to find and destroy the illegal laboratory, which processed this substance for the Residual Organized Armed Group, GAOr, Structure 48, who sold cocaine hydrochloride.
At the site were found by troops 5,137 kilograms of potassium permanganate, 80 kilograms of magnesium dioxide, 50 gallons of sodium hypochlorite, in addition to barrels and boilers. With this operation the criminal finances of the GAOr Structure 48 were hit in 315,000,000 million pesos, since approximately 20 tons of cocaine hydrochloride were stopped being produced.
