More than eight thousand inhabitants have benefited of the different services offered by the voyage Sailing to the Heart of the Magdalena, I fall in love with Bolívar, an initiative led by the Colombian Navy through the Caribbean Naval Force in alliance with different State institutions.
For this occasion, when the Government of Bolívar has joined directly this campaign, it was possible to decentralize the Passport Office to the municipality of Calamar, bringing this service to these communities.
The first beneficiary of this service, was Mrs Romelia Ruiz who said she was pleased with the distribution of the document and thanked the Government of Bolivar and the Colombian Navy for taking the expedition to the municipality of Calamar. “It is a great opportunity to have the passport at the municipality, because transportation is difficult for us and sometimes we do not have time to travel to the main office,” Romelia said.
The municipalities of Soplaviento and Calamar have been the first to benefit from different services provided thanks to the services of the Colombian Navy, the Government of Bolívar and the different allied organizations, including health, national registry of civil status, laboratory sampling, nursing, recreation, access to justice and temporary protection permits for migrant inhabitants.
This social journey, in which more than 200 volunteers are involved, will continue to take place through the department of Bolívar being the municipality of Cicuco its next destination, where they will arrive tomorrow, Tuesday, July 2nd, with a variety of services in the areas of justice, health, direction, recreation and culture.
