The illegal merchandise was found in the framework of two operations, where two individuals of Nicaraguan nationality were arrested.
In the last 48 hours, as part of the maritime control and security operations carried out by the Colombian Navy in the Pacific, 903 kilograms of marijuana were found by troops in the departments of Chocó and Valle del Cauca.
The first operation, in Valle del Cauca, took place at the moment when Navy units conducted a maritime interception of a boat manned by two individuals of Nicaraguan nationality, who were transporting 25 sacks of different sizes apparently with illicit substances. The individuals, the boat and the illegal merchandise, were taken to the District of Buenaventura, where they were put into custody of the judicial authorities, who carried out the respective procedures, determining that the packages contained 611 kilograms of marijuana.
The second action was reported in the department of Chocó, when a boat sailing in the area, noticing the work of the Coast Guard units, threw several packages into the water and fled the place. The military personnel recovered 12 bags of the sea that were taken to the Coast Guard Station of Bahía Solano, where the Approved Preliminary Identification Test was carried out by the authorities, establishing that it was 292 kilograms of marijuana. No arrests were made during the operation.
With this blow to drug trafficking organizations, the Colombian Navy prevented about six million dollars from entering its financial structures, as well as the distribution of more than 150 thousand doses on the streets of the world.
It should be noted that, in 2024, the Pacific Naval Force has found more than 106 tons of narcotics, including more than 26 tons of marijuana.
