This result of the military operation was achieved thanks to a call received on the Anti-Terrorism Line 107. The drug would be destined for micro-trafficking in Brazil illegally controlled by the Familia del Norte FDN group, one of the largest criminal organizations in the neighboring country.
Within the framework of military operations in compliance with the Ayacucho Joint Strategic Campaign Plan -Tiempo 2 - the Military Forces found a ship navigating the waters of the Putumayo River, transporting more than two tons of cripy type marijuana.
The action occurred in the vicinity of the village of Puerto Gallo, rural area of Puerto As铆s, Putumayo. There, troops of the 27th Brigade of Colombian National Army and the Colombian Navy intercepted a boat in which an individual was transporting illegal merchandise that he was planning to take to Brazil, apparently for micro-traffic places run by the so-called illegal group Familia del Norte FDN, one of the largest criminal organizations in the neighboring country.
According to the first information, the 2,148 kilograms of cripy-type marijuana would belong to the so-called Comandos de Frontera of the Second Marquetalia of the FARC dissidents and would be valued at least 79 million dollars.
The finding was made possible thanks to an alert generated through the National Toll-free 107 Anti-Terrorism Hotline. There a citizen gave timely notice about the route followed by the boat on one of the main tributaries of the Putumayo department. Immediately the Military Forces reacted with their Army and Navy components who deployed their resources to find and intercept the boat.
When conducting the review, they found in 24 sacks with 2,021 packages that, when verified with anti-narcotic tests, gave positive result for marijuana. In the event the boat was found and an individual was arrested, who were put into custody of the authorities for the respective prosecution process.
With this result of the military operation, the Military Forces significantly and strategically hit the illegal drug trafficking finances belonging to the so-called Comandos de Frontera of the Second Marquetalia of the FARC dissidents, hitting their logistical and criminal structures in the south of the country.
So far this year, more than 15 tons of drugs have been found in the Putumayo department. For this reason, the authorities have intensified the efforts of the military operation, by land, river and air, to continue seizing these illegal shipments.
