In order to strengthen the comprehensive maritime security operations on the Special District of Buenaventura and counter the crime of theft at sea, the Colombian Navy conducted operations on events reported at the sea that have led to the arrest of three individuals, the immobilization of two boats and the finding of another, allegedly stolen.
Yesterday, during overflights of the Pacific Naval Air Group in control operations over the Uramba National Natural Park, several individuals were found by troops on board a boat that were in the La Plata sector, who, noticing the work of the aircraft, started to escape by entering an estuary, where five individuals jumped into the sea.
The Colombian Navy with Navy Infantry and Coast Guard personnel complement the interception of the ship, finding three individuals on board, who were taken to the port of Buenaventura and put into custody of the authorities.
In the area, the Navy Infantry personnel and divers of the Colombian Navy carry out search operations for packages allegedly left at sea.
As part of the Colombian Navy's operations, it should be noted that last Saturday, January 20, a suspicious ship was reported, apparently, with armed men chasing a boat carrying passengers bound for Pizarro, Coast Guard units were immediately sent with Navy Infantry personnel to the area and a helicopter found the boat in an estuary near La Barra, without personnel on board. The boat named La Furia VI was recovered and transferred to Buenaventura, where it has not been claimed so far.
In the same way, last Saturday, January 20, the Colombian Navy received information on the alleged theft of the ship Doña Judid that does not have a registration or authorization to sail issued by the Port Authority of Buenaventura, which apparently was transporting fuel and was assaulted in the Punta Soldado sector by alleged armed individuals. In these events, the Coast Guard units with Navy Infantry personnel were in the same way sent, and a helicopter overflight of the Pacific Naval Air Group was carried out. On January 22, the ship was seen sailing in the bay of Buenaventura, its search process begun by informing its owner, who said he already has the boat and investigations are being conducted in the face of these facts.
