So far this year, 21,981 gallons of smuggled fuel have been found in this region of the country.
As part of two maritime control operations, Colombian Navy crew members arrested four individuals who were transporting more than 3,000 gallons of smuggled fuel in Colombian South Pacific waters.
In the first operation, Rapid Reaction Units of the Primary Coast Guard Station of Tumaco, carried out the maritime interception of a ship manned by two individuals, who were irregularly transporting 47 plastic barrels with a liquid substance inside.
In the same way, in the second deployment, crew members of the Naval Institution detected a boat type, drove suspiciously by two individuals, who were transporting 25 barrels with fuels without having the documentation proving the legality of its origin.
The two boats were taken to the Coast Guard Station dock in Tumaco - Nariño, where the Colombian Sailors, in coordination with the Technical Corps of Criminal and Judicial Investigation, conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test, determining that it was 3,055 gallons of foreign gasoline.
The arrested individuals, the smuggled fuel and the two boats found, were put into custody of the Attorney General's Office.
