The firearms and ammunition were camouflaged in a van, which had a double bottom adaptation to hide the material.
Troops of the Seventeenth Brigade of Colombian National Army, in an inter-institutional work with the Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Interpol (Dijín), of the National Police, through a checkpoint, intercepted a van, which with had a hideout with firearms and ammunition; material belonging to the Carlos Vásquez substructure, of the GAO Clan del Golfo.
The double cab pickup truck was seized at the scene, along with 10 revolvers, 10 pistols 9 mm, 10 magazines and more than 700 units of ammunition of different calibers. In the same way, the arrest was made in flagrante delicto of the individual who was driving the car.
Thanks to these results of the military operation the criminal plans of this organization are dismantled, which includes its criminal expansion, the illegal recruitment of minors, kidnapping, extortion and attacks against the Military Forces.
The troops will continue to carry out an institutional operations on the national highways, in order to protect all the inhabitants who travel along the road axis of the banana farmers region.
The Seventeenth Brigade of Colombian National Army reiterates its commitment to confront any threat against the security of the inhabitants in the Urabá subregion of Antioquia and Chocó.
