At a vehicular checkpoint, soldiers of the Eighth Brigade arrested a man and a woman who were transporting 21 packages of marijuana on an interdepartmental bus between the municipality of Calarcá, Quindío, and Cajamarca, Tolima.
In compliance with the Ayacucho Campaign Plan, troops of the High Mountain Battalion No. 5 General Urbano Castellanos Castillo, attached to the Eighth Brigade, found more than 24 kilograms of marijuana on the La Linea road, which connects the departments of Quindío and Tolima.
At the vehicular checkpoint, near the Oso de Anteojos tunnel, the stop signal was made to an interdepartmental bus for the routine search. When checking the trunk of the vehicle, our trained dog gave an alert signal to the troop, and thus it was possible to identify the hallucinogen that was being transported by a man and a woman in a suitcase with 10 rectangular packages wrapped in vinyl paper and a cardboard box wrapped with a blanket. There they found 11 packages wrapped in the same way for 21 packages; the weigh was 24,785 grams of marijuana.
The arrests in flagrante delicto were carried out with the support of the National Police for the prosecution, and the material found was put into custody of the authorities.
The La Línea road is the one most used by common criminals to transport drug trafficking, that’s why, regardless the date of the year, our soldiers of the Eighth Brigade do not stop operations against this evil that does so much damage to the country.
