These individuals would have as an area of interference the municipalities of Chigorodó, Apartadó, Turbo (Antioquia) and the villages of Blanquicet, Macondo, Cuchillo Blanco, Cuchillo Negro and Nuevo Belén de Bajirá (Chocó), where multiple criminal operations and attacks against the inhabitants were carried out.
As a result of the powerful operation conducted within the framework of the Campaign Plan of the Ayacucho military Operation by troops of the Seventeenth Brigade, in the first operation conducted by the Urabá Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) and the National Police, it was possible to arrest alias Yuli by court order, in the Buenos Aires neighborhood, in Turbo, Antioquia. Alias Yuli was wanted by the authorities for the crimes of money laundering and smuggling, she would be in charge of the illicit income of approximately 3.2 million dollars for the focused criminal component of the Roberto Vargas Gutiérrez structure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo.
In the same way, in the second military operation in the municipality of Apartadó, Antioquia, two individuals were arrested in flagrante delicto for the crimes of manufacturing, trafficking and carrying weapons. These individuals had war material in their possession, such as pistols, shotguns, magazines, cartridges of different calibers and 25 million pesos in cash. They would be members of the focused criminal component of the Carlos Vásquez Substructure, of the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo.
The last military operation was carried out in support of the search procedures by the troops of the 46th Infantry Battalion. Through intelligence work, it was possible to establish the whereabouts of these individuals in the village of Cuchillo Blanco in the municipality of Belén de Bajirá, Chocó department.
One of the individuals, known as alias El Mocho or Blade, had a criminal record of 10 years and would currently be the main ringleader of the focused criminal component of the Carlos Vásquez Substructure, of the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, in charge of coordinating the collection of money from extortions made against of the productive livestock groups of the region. At the time of his arrest, he was with his bodyguard. A pistol, a magazine, cartridges, radios, cell phones, payments by the cattle growers of area and a motorcycle were found by troops on these men.
The five arrested were taken into custody of the authorities for their respective prosecution. Colombian National Army will continue to conduct operations to combat the factors of instability in these regions of the country and generate a security environment for its inhabitants.
