Alias Monocuco would be in charge of the criminal intelligence, as well as the extortions of money for that residual organized armed group.
In the framework of security operations in the department of Valle del Cauca with the support of the Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, two alleged members of the so-called 57th front were arrested, including the alleged ringleader of the support networks for residual structures (RAEr) of this residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-R.
The operation was carried out in two phases, the first operation in the Ceilan village of the municipality of Tuluá. Members of the Military Forces arrived in the place and received information that alias Monocuco had arrived in this area.
This 38-year-old individual, according to authorities, has a criminal history of more than six years in criminal structures.
The second operation was carried out in the village Porvenir, municipality of Tuluá, where the individual alias Yama, who would be an active member of this RAEr, was apprehended.
These individuals would be responsible for the supply of weapons, explosives, logistical elements for this structure, and the distribution of intimidating pamphlets to merchants for extortion purposes and the collection of money from the extortions in the rural area of Tuluá and Sevilla.
In addition, they had a group of criminal elements who carried out selective murders in dispute against alleged members of the Adam Izquierdo company dissidents, in order to maintain territorial control of criminal income and mobility routes for the transit of weapons, ammunition and explosives.
At the time of the arrest, the individuals were found by troops with three handguns, 21 explosive devices with which they planned to attack civilians, members of the Military Forces and strategic assets of the region, as well as four communication radios.
With this result, the logistical and financial structures of the so-called Frente 57, a group that has been committing crimes in the department of Valle del Cauca, are being hit hard.
The military operations conducted by Colombian National Army will continue to be carried out in a sustained manner, with the aim of continuing to damage the factors of criminality in the region, and thus conduct the protection and security operations of the inhabitants, to prevent any operation that armed groups intend to carry out.
