Two Colombian were arrested during the operation.
Units of the Colombian Navy belonging to the Coast Guard Station of Coveñas carried out a maritime interception operation, in which 148 kilos of cocaine and 12 kilos of marijuana were found by troops.
The facts occurred in the Gulf of Urabá, approximately 20 nautical miles of the municipality of Sapzurro, when thanks to the sea control work carried out by the Colombian Navy in this region of the country, a Go Fast type boat was detected sailing at high speed and in a suspicious manner, apparently bound for Central America.
A Rapid Reaction Unit of the Coast Guard was immediately deployed, which in a few minutes intercepted the suspicious ship, crewed by two individuals of Colombian nationality, putting an end to its criminal intent. During the investigation, different plastic containers were found by troops, allegedly with illicit substances.
The boat was taken along with the arrested personnel and the material to the dock of the Coast Guard Station of Coveñas, where they were put into custody of the authorities.
Once at the dock, officials of the Attorney General's Office conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test, establishing that it was 148 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride and 12 kilograms of marijuana. It is estimated that this illegal merchandise would have a cost of more than five million dollars in the international illegal market.
