The complex was made up of seven structures that produced more than 7,000 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride per month, which meant a loss of US $9 million to the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo.
In compliance with the Ayacucho Campaign Plan, which aims to weaken illicit activities and deny sources of financing to illegal groups, soldiers of the Combat Engineer Battalion No.4 General Pedro Nel Ospina, of the Fourth Brigade, arrived at the village Tablazo Popalito, municipality of Barbosa, in the department of Antioquia, where, thanks to intelligence work, they found and dismantled the illegal complex.
In an area of approximately 50 hectares, this complex of seven clandestine laboratories was used for the production of cocaine hydrochloride, for the self-called Carlos Mauricio Garc铆a or Double Zero Substructure, of the Clan del Golfo, which commercialized the drug in Mexico.
In the first structure found by troops they found elements used for illegal activity and a road that connected with six other structures that were in the same way specialized in illicit activity. Once the soldiers arrived, the people who were there started to escape, although one of them was arrested.
With this important result, the illicit income of this illegal group, which it reinvests in weapons, explosives and forming illegal groups to attack the Military Forces and the inhabitants, is significantly reduced.
303 kg of cocaine hydrochloride, 65 kg in coca base paste, 7 wooden buildings, 1,500 kg of solid substance precursors, 3,000 gallons of liquid chemical precursors, 4 distillation towers, a power generator with great capacity to provide electricity to the 7 structures, several precision scales, abundant molds, 3 hydraulic presses, industrial kitchens, 13 microwave ovens, vacuum packers, several gas cylinders, several compressors and abundant storage tanks were found.
Similarly, 2 shotguns, a 9 mm caliber pistol and ammunition were found by troops at the scene. The materials were put into custody of the National Police, in charge of the prosecution.
