In compliance with the Ayacucho Campaign Plan, the Seventh Brigade carried out different operations in the department of Meta during the last few days, which resulted in several arrests.
In the village of La Meseta, municipality of El Dorado, troops of the 20th Infantry Battalion, in coordination with the 2nd Air Combat Command, Cormacarena and the Attorney General's Office, made four arrests in flagrante delicto for the crime of damage to natural resources and illegal exploitation of mining deposits.
Through this result, three mining production units that generated about 86 million pesos per month in gold extraction were impacted.
The authorities are investigating whether the money went to the illicit activities of the residual organized armed group Jorge Suárez Briceño Bloc, Gaitan Gutiérrez Structure.
Three motors, three pulleys and a metal detector were found by troops at the site, among other items used in mining.
On the other hand, in the municipality of Acacías, and in coordination with the National Police, two arrests were made for personal injuries and one more person was arrested for the crime of manufacturing, trafficking and carrying or possessing firearms. A .38 caliber revolver was found with this individual.
In another operation, in these same town, it was possible to find a 765 caliber firearm and a magazine, and the arrest of the man who was carrying it was made.
