The operation was made possible thanks to the solidarity of the Huilense people.
A call from the Citizen Participation Network led the troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), of the Ninth Brigade, to neutralize the plans of the Second Marquetalia in the south of Huila. During the operation, a hideout was discovered that contained war material, supplies of military accessories and intimidating elements that would be used against the Military Forces and the inhabitants.
Following the information provided, the troops moved to the village of Carbonara, in the municipality of Acevedo. There, complying with the security protocols, they conducted a search in the area, and found hidden in the middle of bushland, near the road to Pitalito, Huila, 2 sacks with the material.
2 AK-47 rifle-type longrifles, one LCT AK rifle-type longrifle, a 12-mm caliber shotgun, 34 cartridges of different millimeters, 6 magazines and 2 smoke grenades, 2 communication radios were found by troops. In the same way, uniforms for the exclusive use of the Military Forces, boots, multipurpose vests and bracelets alluding to the illegal armed structure were found by troops.
Among the material found, illegal leaflets, summons cards and payment receipt forms were in the same way found, used to carry out extortion operations and strengthen its financial structure.
This result of the military operation, which had the judicial support of the Huila Police, leads to the dismantling of the criminal plans of this organization, which includes its criminal expansion, the illicit recruitment of minors, kidnapping, extortion and attacks against the Military Forces.
The operation is an example of how intelligence, inter-institutional coordination, citizen courage and rapid operation can dismantle the plans of illegal armed groups.
