Textron Aviation, one of the leading companies in the aeronautical industry, has awarded a special recognition to the Casanare Air Group of the Colombian Aerospace Force (FAC), for achieving more than 115 thousand flight hours with its fleet of Cessna Caravan aircraft. This achievement is a distinction to the effort, specialization and professionalism of those involved in the operation, maintenance and support of these aircraft.
Since its arrival in 1998, the Caravan C-208 aircraft has been consolidated as a strategic asset of the FAC, this versatile single-engine aircraft, in which more than 250 pilots have been trained, has demonstrated exceptional resources in aeromedical transfer missions, personnel transport, cargo, surveillance and control throughout the national territory; the versatility of the aircraft to operate in remote places, short and unprepared runways, leads to providing a rapid response to any emergency or disaster.
The Colombian Aerospace Force has been the only institution in Latin America to receive this distinction, globally there are more than three thousand Cessna Caravan aircraft, which exceeded 25 million hours in operation in May 2024 and the Colombian Aerospace Force was part of this significant figure with 17 aircraft, which have flown each, approximately one thousand hours, in compliance with the constitutional mission.
A team made up of about 130 crew members fly the Caravan aircraft in the Colombian Aerospace Force throughout the length and breadth of the national territory, this recognition by Textron Aviation to the crews, maintenance technicians and the various support areas, is an impetus to move forward and overcome new goals.
