Thanks to the coordination of resources conducted by the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) and the CTI, three citizens from India, who had been deprived of their liberty by alleged members of the Tren de Aragua gang, were rescued.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho Campaign Plan and within the framework of military operations aimed at preserving the security and tranquility of those living in the Colombian southwest, troops of the Nariño Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), in coordination with the Technical Research Corps, CTI, rescued three Indian citizens who were being deprived of their liberty.
According to information from military intelligence, the kidnapping of the foreigners was reported, who were approached by subjects on the Colombian-Ecuadorean border, near the Rumichaca bridge, in the municipality of Ipiales, department of Nariño.
The protocol was immediately activated to establish the whereabouts of the men who had been deprived of their liberty for four days. Their captors were asking for USD $9,000 for the rescue.
The investigative and follow-up work focused on the search of three buildings by court order. In one of these houses the Indian citizens were found by troops. There, one of the captors was arrested, who apparently was a member of the transnational organized gang Tren de Aragua, which commits crimes on the border.
After conducting the rescue maneuver, the Indian citizens were taken to Migración Colombia for the restoration of their rights, in the same way, the arrested man was put into custody of the authorities.
