As part of a Colombian Navy operation in the rural area of the Buenaventura Special District, eleven Improvised Explosive Devices such as hand grenades were found by troops and destroyed, which endangered the inhabitants of this area of the Colombian Pacific.
In response to the denunciation of the inhabitants of the village of San Marcos, about the presence of armed personnel outside this community, crew members of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.21 conducted a search and area control, which led to the discovery of eleven rudimentary hand grenades, which were hidden in the undergrowth approximately 200 meters of the community.
Immediately, the security protocols for the handling and controlled destruction of Improvised Explosive Devices were implemented by the Colombian Navy's Explosives and Demining Group.
