In a sample of solidarity and commitment to Colombians abroad, the Boeing-737 aircraft of the Colombian Air Force, registration FAC-1219, made a second flight to the eastern coast of the Mediterranean, in Lebanon, with the purpose of fulfilling a new mission, to repatriate 105 people who were in a risk area.
After an extensive route that started at the Military Transport Air Command – CATAM, last Monday, October 21, the FAC-1219 registration aircraft left for its first destination: Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, later Portugal, Cyprus and finally having as destination the Republic of Lebanon, where the compatriots boarded for their return to their country.
The humanitarian work carried out in close collaboration with the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Colombia and the Ministry of National Defense, managed to return home 35 minors, two babies in arms, and three pets safely.
This operation meticulously planned by the Colombian authorities complied with all the safety, health and wellbeing protocols, to obtain the return of compatriots who were in a difficult situation in Lebanon.
The Air Force will continue to be a fundamental part of the permanent operations issued by the Presidency of the Republic to assist Colombians who, due to various circumstances, are in a vulnerable situation abroad and will continue working tirelessly to work for the protection of Colombians anywhere in the world.
