In a military river operation, the Colombian Navy seized 16,500 kilograms of cement in the department of Chocó.
The discovery took place when troops of the Navy Infantry Riverine Battalion No.16 were carrying out a river control checkpoint on the Atrato river, in the municipality of Carmen del Darién, where it was possible to detect a suspicious ship, manned by an individual.
During the inspection of the boat, 330 sacks of gray cement, weighing 50 kilograms each, were found inside. At the time of the inspection, the person responsible for transporting the material did not present the Certificates issued by the National Narcotic Drugs Directorate and regulations for the transport and mobilization of the material, so it is presumed that It would be used for the manufacture of illicit substances.
The 16,500 kilograms of cement, which would cost approximately 9 million pesos approximately, were put into custody of the Carmen del Darién Police.
During the discovery, no arrests were made.
The Colombian Navy will continue to carry out maritime and riverine search and control operations in the areas under its responsibility, in order to combat any kind of crime and guarantee the safety of populations on the Atrato River. It invites the community to continue providing information of interest for the safety and life of people through the free lines 146 and 147.
