Units of the Colombian Navy in joint operations with the National Army, coordinated with the SIJÍN of the National Police and combined with intelligence agencies of Ecuador, arrested an alleged member of the Residual Organized Armed Group Structure 48, in the village of Puerto Ospina in the rural area of Puerto Leguízamo - Putumayo.
The individual, who had two arrest warrants issued by the Prosecutor's Office No. 40 of the municipality of Puerto Leguízamo for the crimes of prison escape and trafficking, manufacturing or carrying narcotics, was arrested at a river checkpoint of the village of Puerto Ospina by troops attached to Navy Infantry Battalion No. 30 in coordination with units of the SIJIN of the National Police, when he was traveling on board a civilian ship on the Putumayo River on the Puerto Asís route to Puerto Leguízamo, presenting false documentation in order to elude the authorities, for which he was charged with the crime of falsification in a public document.
The 26-year-old man, apparently, would have been a member of this residual Organized Armed Group for five years and would currently be part of the finance group under the command of alias Pitufo, where he would support the supply of food, military accessories and war material, facilitating its departure of the area where this criminal organization commits crimes.
The Colombian Navy will continue to work in a coordinated, joint and combined manner, carrying out operations against organized crime, which led weakening the logistical and financial structures of the different Residual Organized Armed Groups that commit crimes in the southeast of the country, protecting life, good physical condition and national interests in the areas of responsibility of the river and Ground Combat Battalion of the Southern Naval Force.
