The work of both human and technical military intelligence increased in the area, with the aim of preventing any criminal operation that may disturb the tranquility of its inhabitants. There is constant communication and cooperation with the Ecuadorian Military Forces in the region. Control.
The security operation adopted by the Military Forces in the border area between Colombia and Ecuador, was strengthened in the last few hours, with the aim of continuing to work for raising the good climate of tranquility.
In total, there are more than 450 men and women from Colombian National Army, the Navy Infantry and the Aerospace Force who have the mission of preventing any criminal act in the law and order situation that has been going on in the neighboring country for several days. For this reason, the authorities have taken several measures on border security issues to close the transit to any criminal.
To the members of the Military Forces, that operation complements the strengthening of both technical and human military intelligence units, in order to detect suspicious events and thus react promptly and timely against illegal groups. In the same sense, constant monitoring was ordered with unmanned aircraft that will provide detailed and real-time information about formal and non-formal steps at the border and thus lead the movement of troops to strategic points to provide all the security and tranquility conditions for commercial and daily activities in the region.
In the same way with the support of Colombian National Army Aviation and the Aerospace Force, Black Hawk and Huey II helicopters were sent for command and control tasks, troop movement and logistical support as for entry of military accessories material for the units on the ground.
Thanks to the binational cooperation ties that the Colombian Military Forces currently have with their counterparts in Ecuador, there is currently a constant and fluid communication that leads to conduct and coordinate binational interoperability operations to rise security, defense, sovereignty and stability in that border region. The sister nation has in the same way arranged a bloc of more than 250 members of the Military Forces to guard the other side of the border.
Colombian troops are on the Rumichaca International Bridge, the main border transit point, in coordination with Ecuadorian authorities, as well as in Chiles, Cuaspud Carlosama and the village of La Victoria de Ipiales, Nariño.
