In a military operation framed in the Ayacucho Plan, and carried out in the municipality of Caloto, in the north of Cauca, troops of Colombian National Army, in coordination with the National Police and the Attorney General's Office of the Nation arrested alias José Pito, ringleader of the residual organized armed group Dagoberto Ramos Ortiz, who was wanted by the authorities for different crimes.
Alias José Pito, who would have been member of the ranks of this illegal armed group for more than 10 years, would be responsible for several terrorist attacks against the Military Forces in which improvised explosive devices were used in vehicles.
Among these terrorist operations is the attack on members of the National Police and the installation of a motorcycle bomb in front of the Caloto Police station, which occurred during 2022.
His extensive criminal record in the same way includes the destruction of the bridge that connects the villages of Guachené and Padilla, in the north of Cauca, an operation in which he would have conditioned the explosives to carry out this criminal operation, damaging the communities that transit through the place.
The criminal group under the command of alias José Pito had as zone of interference the municipalities of Caloto, Toribío, Corinto and Santander de Quilichao, and his intention was to continue carrying out criminal activities related to drug trafficking and the installation of explosive devices, in order to attack the Military Forces and the communities of the sector.
This individual was put into custody of the Attorney General's Office to continue to conduct the prosecution process.
With this result, the criminal intentions of the GAO-r Dagoberto Ramos to expand in the north and east of the department of Cauca are countered.
