In the midst of the drought season that is hitting the Vichada region, the Eastern Air Group of the Colombian Aerospace Force has intensified its efforts to prepare and face possible forest fires that threaten the area, especially considering the proximity to the El Tuparro National Natural Park. This region, known for its natural beauty, becomes a zone prone to fires during periods of drought, putting biodiversity and community safety at risk.
Aware of the importance of a quick and effective response, in an inter-institutional firmness, the staff of the Yopal volunteer fire department has carried out a specialized training with military personnel of the Unit, imparting knowledge in the management and control of forest fires, highlighting techniques for extinguishing flames and protecting critical areas.
In addition to the preparation for direct fire fighting, emphasis has been made on strengthening personnel rescue resources in emergency situations. On board a Huey II type aircraft, specialized trainings and maneuvers are carried out, such as rappelling descents and practices with the rescue crane. During these exercises, baskets and jungle penetrators are used, fundamental tools that enable the execution of missions aimed at the extraction and evacuation of people who need to be protected.
In this way, the Yopal volunteer fire department and the Oriente Air Group will continue working for the protection of the environment and the safety of the inhabitants, reflecting a shared commitment to safeguarding the invaluable natural heritage of the region.
