The Minister of Defense, Diego Molano Aponte, highlighted on Thursday the firm commitment and absolute confidence that President Iván Duque has in the military and Police commanders.
During a meeting held at the José María Córdova Military Cadet School with the corps of generals and admirals of the Military Forces, Minister Molano said that "the first thing we have to achieve as a corps of generals and admirals is to guarantee confidence and tranquility on the fact that today we have Military and police commanders of excellence."
"President Duque has all the confidence in these commanders, and, of course, he ratifies the commitment we have to continue with them in fulfilling the purposes of the missions of security and national defense," he said.
The Defense Minister in the same way highlighted that "it is clear that the ratification of this task, with the commitment to move forward, can't have gossip, rumors that seek to undermine confidence in the institutions, and adversely hit of our Military Forces by others who have interests of destabilization and generate a lack of confidence", noting that "on the contrary what we have clear here is that the whole body of generals and admirals has only one purpose: to ensure the national security, guarantee the purposes that President Duque has set out in his defense plans, all with our military commanders and with all of you; we must move forward in fulfilling that purpose and not distract ourselves in any other kind of actions that seek to distract us, undermine trust, or undermine the legitimacy of what we are doing as a team in the Ministry of Defense and with our Military Forces."
