More than 1,700 children and adolescents of the Cristo Rey School in the capital city of Magdalena will benefit of the distribution of these school spaces.
From now on, students linked to the Cristo Rey de Santa Marta institution will be able to access their classes in the new school classrooms. This project was made possible thanks to the multilateral work conducted by the National Army and the U.S. Embassy in Colombia, who joined forces and with the resources of the Colombian soldiers.
The construction of these classrooms at the Cristo Rey District school, at kilometer 13 via Santa Marta-Ciénaga, was possible thanks to resources allocated by the U.S. Embassy at a cost of approximately $40,000,000 pesos , which were distributed in construction materials such as cement, brick, zinc, among others.
The construction began on September 2 and was carried out by Engineer Battalion No.2 General Francisco Javier Vergara Y Velasco; and in the same way had the support of the soldiers of the First Division with its second brigade and the Support Command of Comprehensive Action and development with its Support Battalion of Comprehensive Action and development No.1.
This project aims to contribute to the quality education of minors and provide them with optimal conditions so that they can continue their studies, and also to help reduce the dropout rate in the region.
For her part, Mrs. Araceli Yepes Yepes, principal of the School, expressed her gratitude and joy for this project that today is already a reality: “we give thanks for life, for the National Army work because with great care they are helping us. Long Live to The National Army!.”
The classrooms presentations counted on the representatives of the U.S. Embassy and the National Army along with the community, who received them with messages full of gratitude.
