Units of the Colombian Navy found 54 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride that was hidden on board a cargo ship for maritime transport, in one of the port terminals of Barranquilla.
The finding was made possible thanks to the permanent deployment of technical and human resources that is constant in its Naval Institution against the transnational crime of drug trafficking. On this occasion they determined the possible contamination with drugs of a high-class boat in the Atlantico capital city.
Within a few minutes of receiving the report, a Rapid Reaction Unit - URR of the Coast Guard Station of Barranquilla was sent along with an anti-narcotics trained dog, which after conducting the visit procedure to the cargo ship, found the illegal merchandise hidden on the access stairs to one of the holds of the boat.
The illegal cargo was disembarked and taken to a safe port where officials of the Technical Investigation Corps - CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test - PIPH, which tested positive for 54 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride. It is estimated that this illegal merchandise would cost approximately 1.8 million dollars in the international illegal market.
No arrests were made during the operation. The material was put into custody of the authority.
