The war material would cost more than thirty million pesos, it would be used against the civilians and the Military Forces of this important region of the country.
Troops of the National Army carried out a joint operation with the National Navy and interinstitutional with the Attorney General's Office, and in the recent hours arrested alias Carlos, accused of committing crimes with members of a transnational trafficking network in charge of firearms, ammunition and explosives that they trade for the GAO Clan del Golfo.
The military operation was carried out in the Las Playas neighborhood of the municipality Turbo, in Antioquia, where soldiers of the Seventeen Brigade and the National Navy arrived and made the arrest in flagrante delicto of this individual, who upon noticing the work of the authorities would have tried to flee.
More than 700 9 mm caliber bullets were found by troops at the scene. The arrested and the war materiel were put into custody of the authorities.
Alias Carlos will have to face charges of trafficking, manufacture and carrying of weapons, among other crimes.
The individual would be in charge of temporary collection centers of war material and military accessories, which would have the purpose of being marketed to the GAO Clan del Golfo, specifically to the Gabriel Ramos Poveda, Central Turbo, Carlos Vásquez and Pablo José Montalvo Cuitiva substructures.
Meanwhile, the deployment of troops is permanent and their operation is framed in the Constitution of Colombia, seeking to exercise control and provide security to local people and visitors.
