In two operations, one of them jointly with the National Army, the Colombian Navy found and destroyed two laboratories for the production of coca base paste in the departments of Cauca and Valle del Cauca.
The first operation was carried out in the Juanico sector, in the municipality of Guapi Cauca, where troops of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No.42 of the Colombian Navy and Infantry Battalion No.56 of the National Army, found a rudimentary wooden structure, which was used by illegal groups for the elaboration and production of coca base paste, 510 gallons of processed gasoline and 100 kilograms of cement were found by troops at this place.
In the second operation, personnel from the Navy Infantry Battalion No.21 of the Colombian Navy found in the San Joaquin sector, rural area of Buenaventura Valle del Cauca, a plastic and wooden structure with 315 gallons of liquid precursors and 60 kilograms of solid precursors and other elements for the production of coca base paste.
The structures, the 825 gallons of liquid precursors and the 160 kilograms of solid precursors, were destroyed according to the established protocols.
With these operations, the military forces are striking down the illegal activities of drug trafficking organizations that commit crimes in the Colombian Pacific and get profit from illicit drug trafficking, since coca paste is the main precursor for the crystallization of cocaine hydrochloride.
