In compliance with the bicentenary campaign plan Héroes de la libertad, the Joint Task Force for stabilization and consolidation Hercules, in military operations, managed to find and destroy two illegal refineries in the municipality of Pulgante and the municipality of la Guayacana in the district of Tumaco, department of Nariño.
In the first Operation, troops of the Rapid Deployment Force No. 2, through intelligence work, managed to destroy this refinery, which dealt a severe blow to the finances of the Residual Organized Armed Group (GAO-r) Los Contadores, which commits crimes in this area of the Nariño Pacific; among the destroyed materials there are 01 pool for petroleum, 02 barrels with 55 gallons of petroleum, 9 barrels with 55 gallons of refined fuel, 5 distillation tower and 32,000 gallons of petroleum.
The second operation was carried out by troops from the Jungle Battalion No. 53 in the town La Guayacana in the District of Tumaco, 1 distillation tower was destroyed along with 18 barrels of 55 gallons of refined fuel, 3 pools, 2000 meters of plastic, 4000 meters of plastic hose and 18,000 gallons of oil belonging to the (GAO-r) Front 30, harming decisively the illegal activities of this terrorist group.
In these refineries different types of raw material are processed, such as fuel, with which they supply the machines that are used for illegal mining and as precursors for the production of coca base paste.
The environmental damage that these terrorist groups inflict on the environment is irreparable, since the derivatives that they do not use for the liquid they call refined are thrown into the rivers, contaminating these sources with these highly toxic materials.
With this result, the armed component of these criminal organizations, responsible for homicides, criminal acts and clashes with other structures that perpetrate drug trafficking, will be hit.
With this type of operations, once again, the military forces of Colombia with different institutions that work in the territory, demonstrate their permanent commitment to ensure the security and tranquility of the citizens who live in the pacific coast of Nariño.
