This joint and inter-agency operation of the National Army, the Air Force and the Attorney’s Office, allows the seizure of more than three tons of drugs.
In the permanent fight against drug trafficking, through the deployment of all the resources of the National Army, one of the most important blows was dealt against the illegal finances of the Residual Organized Armed Group (GAO-r) Columna Móvil Urias Rondón.
In the village of Tapiales, rural area of Cumbitara, in the mountain range of Nariño, a territorial control operation led the military personnel and the Attorney’s Office to found two gigantic laboratories for the production of cocaine hydrochloride, which would have the capacity to produce more than five drug tons per month. This complex was made of 12 rudimentary structures, where about 2,800 kilograms of this narcotic and 600 kilograms of coca-based paste were stored.
In addition, the troops found 3,000 kilograms of solid supplies, 5,000 liters of liquid supplies, machinery and equipment for the preparation of this narcotic, which were put into custody of the authority for its judicial process.
As one of the most important results in recent years, and with a loss from four to five million dollars for this armed group, the Colombian National Army destabilizes the illegal incomes of the Columna Móvil Urias Rondón.
No arrests were made in this military operation, but military operations continue in the area to find those responsible for this crime, as well as to find more laboratories.
