Two German citizens who were isolated in the Tunia River, an area of the Serran铆a del Chiribiquete National Natural Park, were rescued in a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, thanks to a search and rescue mission carried out by Colombian Air Force crews.
The request received by the National Center for Personnel Recovery of the Colombian Air Force CENRP, reported that one of the two foreigners, after conducting water navigation activities, suffered an injury on one of his arms, preventing them from continuing the tour, which caused them to be trapped and in an emergency situation in this area of difficult access by land.
To rescue the two men, the crews implemented the necessary safety measures using the resources of the Colombian Air Force for this type of missions, through the use of the rescue crane, it was possible the successful extraction that brought these two foreigners, 24 and 38, to safety. In the same way, this complex mission, due to law and order situations, required the accompaniment of helicopters that escorted the rescue to helicopter to protect the extraction of the two people.
Taking into account the topographic conditions and the report of rising river levels, which put the lives of the two individuals at risk, the mission was executed in a coordinated and simultaneous manner by the Air Component of Joint Task Force OMEGA, the Air Combat Commands No.2 and the No.4, who found and transported the two foreign citizens on a rescue mission to later take them to the San Jos茅 del Guaviare airport and the relief agencies in the area.
