The Colombian Navy in a decisive operation against drug trafficking carried out in the northern area of the department of Choc贸, a few kilometers of the border with Panama, obtained the finding of two collection centers, where members of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo stored more than half a ton of cocaine, which would cost more than 19 million dollars in international markets.
Guided with intelligence information of the Colombian Navy, troops of the Navy Infantry Brigade No.2 were deployed to a mangrove area of difficult access, in the village of Punta Ardita, municipality of Jurad贸, department of Choc贸, where apparently, members of the narco-terrorist organization collected shipments of illicit drugs, to then traffic them in the form of speedboats to the coasts of Central America. Once in the place, the Units conducted the searches of the area, using an anti-narcotics canine binomial, which led to identify two underground hiding places, where 23 sacks containing 558 pressed and waterproofed packages were found by troops.
The bags were extracted of the area and taken with the support of Coast Guard Units, to the municipality of Bah铆a Solano, department of Choc贸, where members of the Technical Investigation Corps of the Attorney General's Office, conducted the Homologated Preliminary Identification test on the substance found in the packages, which left positive result for 569 kilograms of high purity cocaine.
This finding led to hit the main source of finance of the Organised Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, preventing earnings of more than USD$ 19 million; with this result, the Navy of Colombia prevented the circulation and consumption of more than 1 million and four hundred thousand doses of cocaine.
