Two alleged members of the Residual Organized Armed Group of the Libardo García Company of the Segunda Marquetalia were arrested as part of a coordinated operation conducted by the Colombian Navy and the National Police, in the Special District of Buenaventura.
The active work in the Locality 12 of Buenaventura of the troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of the Navy of Colombia and of personnel of the Judicial Investigation Section – Sijín, of the National Police, led to notice the suspicious attitude of two men, who upon realizing the work of the authorities started to escape leaving a bag on the ground.
The rapid operation of the Military Forces led to the arrest of the two men, aged 27 and 30, who, according to preliminary intelligence information, are allegedly responsible for the burning of machinery during the repairs to the old Simon Bolivar road, which connects El Pailón and Aguaclara, in rural Buenaventura.
During the review of the bag left by the individuals, a fragmentation grenade, a pistol, a magazine, nine cartridges and a notebook with notes were found by troops, indicating an alleged alliance of the residual organized armed group Segunda Marquetalia with the company Omar Silgado of the organized armed group ELN, who commit crimes in the sectors of Zacarías, Sabaleta, Limones, San Marcos and Aguaclara, in Buenaventura. They, in addition, would be in charge of carrying out the collection of money from extortions against the consortiums of road projects and traders in these sectors.
Those arrested and the material found were put into custody of the immediate reaction unit of the Attorney General's Office in Buenaventura.
