The General Maritime Directorate (Dimar), through the Port Authority of Tumaco, continues to work on the positioning of this region as a tourist destination in the Colombian Pacific. In coordination with the civil and military authorities, strategies have been carried out to position Tumaco among the preferred destinations for more than 1,500 national and international tourists, according to the latest report of the Easter season.
These operations cover aspects such as the establishment of schedules to conduct maritime and nautical activities, the monitoring of the meteorological-marine conditions reported by the Center for Oceanographic and Hydrographic Research of the Pacific (CCCP), and the work of inspectors at authorized piers, in order to verify the documents for navigation, the use of security elements on board and the conations of the boats providing maritime passenger transport service.
It should be noted that in Tumaco water sports, such as jet-skiing, the gusanito, kayak, bicycles, among others, are preferred by tourists, however, it is important to remember that these means of entertainment must have up-to-date documentation and security elements established by the Port Authority with the productive groups. Additionally, it is emphasized that night navigation is only allowed for pleasure boats that provide tourist tours services.
The Authority of the Port of Tumaco, in coordination with the other authorities, confirms its commitment to the positioning of Tumaco as a safe travel destination; therefore, it continues to be in constant preparation for the reception of tourists that wish to visit in the next season or holiday of the year, preparing to provide safe activities with zero incidents or situations that put human lives at risk in the sea.
