Magdalena. Thanks to the rapid reaction of the Units of the Coast Guard Station of Santa Marta, during two operations against drug trafficking, the discovery of 78 kilograms of cocaine was possible.
The first result was in the Pelícano Island, where valuable information provided by the Naval Intelligence led to the discovery of two sacks on the hill of that island, containing 48 packages.
On the other hand, in the Port sector of the capital city of Magdalena, Units of the Navy, in coordination with the National Police, reacted to the warning of a member of the crew of the ship “LICA MAERSK”, from Denmark, who detected suspicious attitudes of some individuals and a bag with 30 pressed packages inside the ship
Apparently, the ship with destination in a port in Belgium, had been contaminated by narcoterrorist organizations, which use this modality for their criminal acts.
The substances found during the two operations were analyzed in Preliminary Tests that led to determine that it was high purity cocaine.
With these findings, the Colombian Navy managed to prevent nearly 2.5 million dollars, the price of the stash in international illegal market, from entering the financial structures of narcoterrorist organizations.
