The flagship sailboat of the Colombian Navy received about 3,500 visits in the islands of San Andrés y Providencia.
Now the majestic ARC Gloria is sailing towards Coveñas - Sucre, where it will arrive for the fifteenth time in its history.
After staying one day in Providencia and three days in San Andrés, sharing naval culture and traditions, the Training Ship ARC Gloria sailed amid praise and applause from hundreds of islanders and tourists.
The flagship sailboat of the Colombian Navy was in Providencia last Thursday and three days later arrived in San Andrés as part of the students Training Cruise 2022, receiving on its decks about 3,500 visitors who tour the spaces of the majestic ARC Gloria and learn part of the history of the Naval Institution that next year commemorates its Bicentenary.
“It had been many years since I was there and I got impressed due to the everyday to keep it more beautiful. I congratulate them because they carry out a very nice operation and they are a pride for the whole country,” said one of the inhabitants of the islands who visited the floating ambassador of Colombia.
For his part, Captain Jairo Eligio Orobio Sánchez, commander of the Training Ship ARC Gloria, thanked the reception by these beautiful islands.
“I take this opportunity to thank the islands of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina for welcoming us with such warmth, that human warmth and the desire for the ship to return to them; as they interacted with us, they visited us massively and felt very good as we expected it to happen [...] In the same way, we tell them that the Ship is their home and always the doors and the gate will be open waiting for them,” he highlighted.
Now, the crew of the ARC Gloria and the 73 students of the Naval School of Non-Commissioned Officers ARC Barranquilla who are completing their training phase, will sail to Coveñas, where they hope to arrive next Friday, September 30.
