Units of the Colombian Navy together with the General Maritime Directorate – DIMAR, rescued three people who were in a boat with mechanical issues in the bay of Tumaco.
The boat named Jhomar, which sailed from Tumaco - Nariño, bound for El Charco - Nariño, was adrift after suffering a flood in the engine room.
The rescue operation was activated after the Traffic Control and Maritime Surveillance Tower received the call of the crew of the ship, informing that it was in emergency when reporting water into its compartments.
Upon the call, the Tumaco Coast Guard Station immediately arranged a Rapid Reaction Unit to move to the Bay of Tumaco, where the boat was found, the three people were rescued and a motor pump was provided to reduce the water in the compartment. In the same way, the protocols and procedures that led to the safe refloat.
The three rescued people were checked for their health status and provided with hydration.
