So far this year, the Colombian Navy has rescued and evacuated 156 people in this region of the country, who have suffered emergencies at sea.
Approximately 12 nautical miles of the municipality of Tumaco - Nariño, the Colombian Navy found a rudimentary boat and rescued three people of Colombian nationality, who had been adrift for more than six hours, apparently due to mechanical failures in their engine.
The search and rescue operation began when the Port Authority of Tumaco informed the Colombian Navy about the emergency call from a boat, which had sailed of the municipality of Francisco Pizarro to the La Tagüera dock in Tumaco, drifting in the middle of the sea. Immediately, the Naval Institution sent a Rapid Reaction Unit – URR, of the Coast Guard Station of Tumaco, to conduct the rescue.
After intense search efforts, the Colombian Sailors found the boat, saving a child and two adults who were crewing the ship, who were taken to the facilities of the Coast Guard Station of Tumaco, where they were provided with medical assistance by the naval health personnel.
