The Colombian Navy, in carrying out sustained operations in the port of Buenaventura, in an inter-institutional work with the Technical Investigation Corps of the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation, managed to arrest three individuals for crimes of kidnapping with extortion and trafficking, manufacture, carrying, possession of a firearm.
The first operation in which the arrest of two alleged members of the Ernesto Che Guevara Front of the ELN was possible was carried out in the Municipality of Sabaleta in the rural area of the Buenaventura District by troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of Buenaventura in coordination with the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps). Those arrested were known in the organization under the aliases of James and Alias Alex or Trapo, and are accused of being the authors of kidnappings with extortion in this region of the country.
The second operation was carried out by members of the Military Forces attached to the Pacific Naval Force in the Miramar Neighborhood, where a 21-year-old man, known by the alias Dainer, was arrested. According to information from naval intelligence, he was in charge of collecting the money resulting from extortions and kidnappings in the region.
According to the investigations, these men would be related to the kidnapping of three people in the municipality of Sabaleta, on the last June 6.
Those arrested were required by the Fifth Municipal Criminal Court of Buenaventura, for the possible crimes of kidnapping with extortion and trafficking, manufacture, carrying, possession of firearms, parts and ammunition; the men were given to the authorities.
