This year, the Colombian Navy has found 225 tons of cocaine hydrochloride.
The Colombian Navy discovered in a mangrove area in the municipality of San Francisco de Sicara, in the municipality of San Bernardo del Viento, an illegal hideout that, due to its strategic location, was used as a drug collection center by the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, in which they had already concentrated 32 sacks of drugs.
The staff of the Coast Guard Station of Coveñas, Sucre, moved to the area and after inspecting the sector, they found that the bags contained 759 irregular packages apparently containing narcotics.
The material found was transported to the facilities of the Coveñas Coast Guard Station, where units of the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Prosecutor's Office, carried out the Preliminary Identification Tests Homologated – PIPH, leaving positive result for 755 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
With this finding, the Colombian Navy prevented more than USD $ 25 million from entering the Zuley Guerra and Manuel José Gaitán substructures of the GAO Clan del Golfo that commit crimes in the Gulf of Morrosquillo subregion.
The Colombian Navy maintains the number of troops in the area, carrying out permanent operations to counter the criminal operations of criminal organizations that seek to attack the security and development of communities in the Colombian Caribbean. In the same way, it invites the community to report any illegal or suspicious activity through the lines 147 and 146, available 24 hours a day.
