In the course of coordinated operations conducted by units of the Colombian Navy and the Peruvian Navy, it was possible to find and subsequently destroy 15 laboratories for the production of coca base paste and to arrest two Colombians for the alleged crimes of manufacturing, trafficking, carrying or possessing firearms and manufacturing, trafficking and carrying narcotics in Laguna Pacora, in the department of Loreto, Peru.
Thanks to information provided by the Navy of Colombia, units of the Navy of Peru arrive at a house in the border zone of the Putumayo river, near the Lagoon Pacora in the department of Loreto (Peru), in which the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO in spanish, Comandos de Frontera, had in the area surrounding the house, a collection of 15 laboratories for the production of cocaine from coca, which were managed by the two individuals arrested.
In addition, five pistol-and-shotgun-type firearms, a boat with a 40HP engine, a boat with a 75HP engine, an ICOM radio, 0.5 kg of coca base paste and four structures where narcotics and residual material belonging to the residual Organized Armed Group, Structure 48 Comandos de Frontera, were collected, were found by troops. The material and those arrested were put into custody of the Public Ministry of Peru.
This year, thanks to river control and intelligence operations coordinated and conducted by the Colombian Navy and Peruvian authorities, a clandestine airstrip, 17 laboratories for production of coca base paste, 547 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, three kilograms of coca base paste, two illegal hideouts with two firearms, 371 cartridges of different calibres, 10 communications equipment, two radios, a cell phone have been found and destroyed; eight Colombians were arrested.
The borders are used by residual Organized Armed Groups for transnational illicit activities such as drug trafficking, due to the extension and conditions of the territory which makes it easier for them to persuade the authorities to control the border with the neighboring country.
