In order to highlight and support the operation carried out by the peasants of more than 22 hamlets of the canyon of Las Hermosas, in the south of Tolima, soldiers of the Support Battalion of Comprehensive Action and development No. 5, supported the first stage of the project Academy of savings, which seeks to highlight the ten best peasant projects in the region.
The canyon of Las Hermosas was, for many years, a region of constant confrontation between the military forces and the extinct Farc-EP. However, today the National Army, through coordination with private companies, works to contribute to train and develop this region. More than 700 families will benefit from training in finances that will be given through the National Army radio station Colombia Stereo in Chaparral, south of Tolima. For this reason, the economy Academy program reaches the countryside in order to train the peasants of the canyon of Las Hermosas to carry out productive projects useful for the community.
Ten programs will be broadcast through the National Army station with information on finance focused on the country regions. For this reason, soldiers of our army distributed more than 600 transistor radios and booklets, covering the topics to be addressed in the trainings and some workshops to be held by families. At the end of the broadcasts, each person must submit a project: The Ten Most Innovative projects will be funded by different private companies that joined this initiative.
Marcela Taiz Virguez Lievano, founder of Tejiendo Redes, said: "the Tejiendo Redes foundation can say that it is blessed to have found maximum support in the Colombian National Army. Many of the works, almost 100% of them are a reality thanks to them. We collaborate with Transport, Security and work. I deeply believe in the institution, the soldiers are sons of the people, the foundation feels favored to have this support as well as the peasants, we have reached schools where the peasants say they never thought the Army would do such works."
The distribution of the teaching and educational material was carried out thanks to the work of the operational stabilization and consolidation Command Zeus, the Infantry Battalion No. 17 Domingo Caicedo and the Support Battalion of Comprehensive Action and development No. 5.
Mar铆a Cruz Hurtado, resident of the village of San Jose de Las Hermosas, commented: "Thank you all, because you come to give us an opportunity for our children to be trained. It is a bit difficult in this region they can study, fortunately you have arrived and this is an opportunity in the same way to progress."
For his part, Colonel Alexander Lara Olarte, commander of the operational stabilization and consolidation Command Zeus, added: "giving continuity to the support provided by the National Army, through the radio station Colombia Stereo, we want to present today another project, aimed at the community of Southern Tolima. With the support of the private company, we distributed more than 600 transistor radios to receive their classes on finances to carry out productive projects. With these initiatives we want to continue strengthening the social fabric in Southern Tolima."
