More than five thousand people from seven riverside communities in the departments of Arauca, Guainía, Meta and Vichada benefited from free health services, recreation, social services, humanitarian aid, among others, during the third edition of the campaign Navigating to the Heart of the Orinoquía led by the Colombian Navy with the support of different public and private organizations.
The campaign Navigating to the Heart of the Orinoquía was carried out for the first time in 2020, under the direction of the Eastern Naval Force, with the purpose of prioritizing and decisively supporting the communities in the greatest need in Eastern Colombia, coordinating and promoting the arrival of social programs of the State, the social responsibility of private companies, international cooperation and projects of non-profit institutions, to promote development and prosperity.
During this year, this crossing benefited 5,497 people, after setting sail last August from Inírida - Guainía, to later arrive in the departments of Meta, Vichada and conclude in Arauca.
Some of the most important rivers of the Colombian Orinoquía, such as the Arauca, Atabapo, Meta and Orinoco, were navigated aboard the Colombian Navy ships transporting the entire human team that works on the development support activities, as well as more than 60 tons of humanitarian aid that was taken to the riverside communities of Amanaven, Cacahual, Casuarito, La Payara, La Reinera, La Venturosa and Puerto Guadalupe.
These efforts demonstrate the commitment of the Colombian Navy, the National Army, the National Police, the Governments of Arauca, Guainía and Meta, the Mayor's Offices of Arauca, Inírida, Puerto Carreño and Puerto López, the re-foresters Forest Firts and Arsnio Urrego, the Corazón y Acción Colombia, Fuerza Colombia, Santa Alianza, Doctora Clawn, Lazos Montemarianos and Zarare Feliz foundations, the local hospitals of Puerto López, Puerto Carreño and Arauca, the Colombian Family Wellbeing Institute, the Colombian Red Cross, the Colombian Civil Defense and the Pan American Health Organization, which worked continuously for two months to improve the conditions and quality of life of these communities in the Colombian Orinoquía region through the Unified Action of the State.
The Colombian Navy will continue to work in coordination with private, public and non-profit organizations, making use of all its resources and human talent to promote initiatives for the benefit of the most vulnerable communities, while ratifying its commitment to work to raise the human security and generate safe environments for the Colombian Orinoquía region.
