In the activity, direct sales of small merchants for more than one billion pesos were generated.
The Navy of Colombia in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, government of Bolivar, through the Secretariat of Agriculture, Mayor of El Carmen de Bolívar, Agency for Rural Development –ADR-, Instituto Colombiano Agropecuario –ICA-, Land Restitution Unit –URT-, Banco Agrario, SENA, among others, and the participation of 22 companies, including TIendas ARA, Carulla, AOL, Megatiendas and Contegral, participated in the Business Activity: Contracts Farming, in El Carmen de bolivar (Bolivar), which consisted mainly of direct sales without intermediaries by small merchants with large surfaces establishments.
The business activity was led by the Naval Institution and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, where the 47 invited producer organizations carry out the process of buying and selling products and presented them to large surfaces establishments, closing 23 businesses by $1,029,900,000 pesos, about USD 263,436.88.
It should be noted that this is an important space to promote inclusive business and direct marketing by private companies and small producers.
The most traded product was the yam, which managed to sell about 1,054 tons, valued at $889,200,000 pesos, a historical figure in the commercialization of products with small farmers. This type of business is the demonstration of a coordinated work conducted by the institutions of the State and the private sector with small and medium-sized businesses, which leads to contribute to the economic development and integrate rural and remote areas of the Caribbean region, those who have been harmed most by the situations facing the country but now they receive benefits raising the quality of life of all communities.
In the same way, other products with great success in the direct sales were cassava, beans, papaya, cheese, and Cacao, thus creating greater equity in the distribution of profits along the supply chain.
