With great success, the Business Fair in the municipality of Alvarado, department of Tolima, sought economic reactivation and the empowerment of women with a participation of 80 percent of productive associations.
Women were a fundamental pillar in the second peasant market held in the department of Tolima, for showing strength and production capacity manufacturing and marketing of the products of the region.
The great Peasant Market that took place last Saturday, February 19, in the main park of Alvarado, Tolima, had the support of soldiers of the Battalion of Comprehensive Action and Development No.5 of the National Army and its Program Fe en Colombia, in coordination with the Mayor's Office, the Rural Development Agency, the Chamber of Commerce and rural producers, who sought to promote a sense of belonging in the rural area.
In the activity participated 12 productive associations with more than 18 products of the family basket that left profits of more than 20 million pesos in sales, 15 million in pre-sale food baskets and 5 million in consumption of gastronomy, handicrafts, individual products and food baskets on the day of the event.
The National Army arranged transportation and labor to pack the peasant food baskets that to the municipality of Ibagué, Tolima. They in the same way provided accompaniment to visitors who enjoyed the institutional services and recreational activities such as: music, face painting, dances, among others.
The commander of the Comprehensive Action and Development Support Battalion No.5, Major Néstor Andrés Ardila Caviedes, expressed his willingness to continue contributing to all processes of strengthening and commitment in favor of the most vulnerable communities: “The National Army will continue to support the medium and small producers of the department in order to support the economic reactivation of the different sectors.”
For his part, Carlos Ernesto Santana Bonilla, director of the Rural Development Agency, regional Tolima, expressed his happiness for the results acquired and hopes to continue to count on the partnerships conducted by different institutions, to continue to obtain positive results in the next food markets.
