After three days of firefights in the sector of Playa Tebada in the municipality of Bahía Solano, in the department of Chocó, the Colombian Navy managed to neutralize a ringleader of the ' GAO Clan del Golfo', the surrender to the justice of a member of that group and the discovery of abundant war material and military garments, as well as the discovery and destruction of nine camp areas used by organized armed groups for drug trafficking.
During the confrontations, alias 'Julio', 37, died. He was the head of the squadron of the Central Pacific Bloc; a substructure of the Organized Armed Group – GAO- Clan del Golfo. This man, born in Tumaco, Nariño, committed crimes in the sector of Playa Tebada in the municipality of Bahía Solano and was part of this group for more than 10 years, in addition he was wanted for the crime of rebellion.
In the same way, it was possible to capture alias 'H', responsible for supporting the logistical activities for criminal operations and intelligence work on Navy troops in the sector.
The troops of the Marine Infantry Brigade No.2 found and destroyed in the sector, nine camps areas, in which troops found ton and a half of food, 130 gallons of fuel, 3 boats in fiber of glass, 3 outboard engines, 5 grenades of 60 millimeters, 1 rifle, 1 revolver, 4 magazines, ammunition, communication equipment and military accessories material belonging to the 'Clan del Golfo'.
The ship found in the process had been reportedly stolen before the National Prosecutor's Office by one of the fishermen in the area. This motorboat was returned to its owner by the investigating agency.
The operation was supported by the Colombian Air Force, which set its air means to evacuate the body of alias 'Julio', the individual detained to justice and the material found, which were put into custody of the authorities.
In other military operation in this area of the Colombian Pacific, troops of the Marine Infantry Battalion No.23 found in the Playa Potes sector, municipality of Bahía Solano, a fiberglass ship without license plate, named 'Dewiner' that inside transported about 100 kilograms of food and military accessories, which apparently belonged to a substructure of the Organized Armed Group 'GAO Clan del Golfo del Golfo'. The individuals, noticing the presence of the troops, left the motorboat and escaped.
