During the state of emergency declaration, more than 415,000 liters of drinking water have been distributed by the Colombian Navy, the National Army and the Colombian Air Force in the different neighborhoods of the island of San Andrés.
As part of the commitment of the Specific Command of San Andrés and Providencia and the components of the Colombian Navy, the National Army and the Colombian Air Force, decisive operations are being carried out in order to prevent and counteract the spread of COVID-19 on the islands of San Andrés and Providencia.
As a result of these joint efforts conducted by the Military Forces, the Departmental Government, the National Police, the Fire Department and the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management - UNGRD, 415,866 liters of drinking water have been distributed to the different neighborhoods of San Andrés, with the purpose of humanely assisting the community and increasing the healthiness in the region.
In the same way, men of the Military Naval Police Battalion No. 11, soldiers of the National Army and the Colombian Air Force, in coordination with the National Police, have carried out rigorous patrols and have established checkpoints in different sectors of the island, guaranteeing compliance with the Mandatory Preventive Isolation established in Decree 457 of March 22, 2020.
In the maritime area, the San Andrés Coast Guard Station conducts constant patrols, to prevent the transit of unauthorized ships in the Archipelago department, thus seeking to comply with the contingency protocol established by the National Government, in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The crew of the Providence Coast Guard Station and the Naval Station No. 21 are in charge of carrying out maritime patrols that watch the arrival of cargo ships with the necessary elements to supply the islands' community, and at the same time, they carry out inspections to mitigate possible health problems with the arriving products.
