Two soldiers of Colombian National Army refused to receive a bribe in the municipality of Valparaíso, Caquetá, showing the principles and values of the institution and the commitment to fulfill the objective of contributing to the security and well-being of the region.
The incident occurred on one of the main roads leading to the municipality of Valparaíso, in the department of Caquetá, at a checkpoint, under the command of a non-commissioned officer of Colombian National Army, who together with the troops made a signal to stop to a motorbike driver, on which a person was traveling, who when he saw the checkpoint and the intention of the soldiers to check it, turned back and started to escape, but meters later the soldiers stopped him.
At the time of the search, the individual approached the soldiers to talk about a bribe in order to be allowed to continue his journey, and indicating that they could take 40 million pesos. The soldiers asserting their principles and values, together with the commander of the checkpoint, immediately rejected the offer and continued the process by informing the superior command in a timely manner about the situation.
The individual was arrested and put into custody of the authorities along with the money found for his respective prosecution. The soldiers and the non-commissioned officer are a clear example of commitment to the institution, implementing the norm, ethics and transparency, but above all their principles and values as people.
Through this result, the finances of the organized armed groups that commit crimes in the south of Colombia are hit, and it demonstrates the commitment of the soldiers of the Sixth Division, who are constantly in operations in this part of the country.
