Soldiers built military bridge that connects two provinces of Santander, isolated since 2020 by rains
With this work, about 6 thousand inhabitants of the region benefit, who can return to take their plantations and typical products to the main municipalities of the department and of the country.
Soldiers of the National Army, along with the Governor of Santander, Authorities, Risk Management, mayors, and community in general, reopened the way between the municipalities of Aguada, and San Benito, Santander, thanks to the installation of a military bridge type Acrow of manufacture of the united States, that connects directly seven municipalities of the Comuneras Veleñas provinces, for the benefit of more than 6 thousand inhabitants of the region.
The structure that was previously on the Via Curos – Málaga, where it provided an important service to the community, was moved and constructed by soldiers of the Battalion of Engineers of Special Operations No.90 and soldiers of the Fifth Brigade in the sector of the Quebrada El Ropero, and after 18 days of work, they give way with this structure of reinforced simple triple configuration, of 51.85 meters in length and capacity of 52 tons.
Due to the heavy wave of rains last December, this sector of the department got isolated, when the previous bridge collapsed damaging not only vehicle traffic, but hundreds of families who depend on agriculture to survive. So, the community built an improvised bridge over the stream which increased the risk of human losses, or in other cases, they had to move by alternate roads, making the route longer.
This work generates an important impact in the region, because it not only demonstrates the commitment, management and institutional coordination at the service of civilians, but it is also an evidence of the work and Resources of the National Army to Support and Defense the Civil Authority, to open roads of development, security and progress for the nation.
